Guru Padmasambhava Statue at Takila

Guru Padmasambhava Statue at Takila

Standing atop a scenic ridge in Takila, Tangmachu, the colossal Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) statue measures over 150 feet in height, making it one of the largest statues of the master in the world. Built to promote world peace and spiritual prosperity, the massive structure overlooks the vast valley below.

The statue rests on a grand two-story temple complex decorated with intricate frescoes and statues depicting various forms of Guru Rinpoche. Pilgrims from across Bhutan travel to Takila to circumambulate the complex, pray for harmony, and enjoy the panoramic mountain vistas.
