Situated at the geographic crossroads of the southern interior highway, the open town promenade of Damphu serves as the lively social and commercial heartbeat of the district. The centerpiece of community life is the vibrant weekend farmers’ market, where growers from all twelve surrounding gewogs (blocks) gather to trade fresh seasonal produce, forest-foraged bamboo shoots, wild mushrooms, mountain honey, and dairy products like traditional cottage cheese (datshi).
